Would you like to be a Monarch?” Frog asked.
“Me?” replied Little Mouse, “Why yes, oh yes!”
“Then it’s time,” said Frog, “to jump.

WHY is THIS FOR YOU?

Would you like to be refreshed by a weekend in the woods? The Pohopoco Weekend Challenge is designed for a dozen adults to transform their lives through nature and arts. Each ticket (buy here) covers our out-of-pocket expenses for the 3-day program (food, insurance, supplies, etc.). Up to three free spots (reserve here) are available for volunteers who will help with food preparation and logistics, and can also attend most of the curriculum (when they are not otherwise helping).

WHAT TO EXPECT?

SEVERANCE Friday from 9am to 9pm, we will gather in a circle to learn what brought us here and how to dance to the four directions, make a den for dying and other non-ordinary creations, then sing to firelight as we set off into the woods. THRESHOLD Saturday is your solo fast to remember your gifts and find something new. INCORPORATION Sunday morning return to camp, break fast, share your visions and artwork, relax in sun, water, air and land, then drive home by 5pm to a life renewed.

HOW TO PREPARE?

READ The Medicine Walk by John Davis and try it: are you ready to die and be reborn? Set your intention for participating in a modern rite of passage. BRING backpack with clothing (including: layers, bathing suit, towel, wool or fleece cap, rain gear, bandanna), toiletries (including: personal hygiene, toilet paper, sunscreen, insect repellent, anakit if allergic to bees), sleeping bag/pad, tent, water bottle, pocket knife, trowel, plastic bag, flashlight, journal & pencils, musical instrument.

WHO ARE YOUR GUIDES?

Dr. BEN GOLDMAN, a jack-of-all-trades whose defEYE® frame was sold by the Museum of Modern Art and environmental research was the catalyst for a new social movement and Presidential Executive Order; Manga for Men is his latest book. TATTFOO TAN, the award-winning artist who created the New Earth Resiliency Training Module and collaborates with the public on issues relating to ecology, sustainability and healthy living while living with a chicken collective named S.O.S.5p.m.

WHERE IS IT LOCATED?

Pohopoco is the Lenape name of a stream between two mountains, which runs through the private property where this retreat takes place in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains, less than two hours by car from New York City and Philadelphia. Everyone needs either a car or rideshare, which we will help organize. Google Maps for directions: bit.ly/pohopoco.
